Robin Campbell and his younger brother Ali co-founded the Birmingham-based reggae group UB40.
Ali is the lead singer and second rhythm guitar player.  Robin is the lead and rhythm guitar player.  While Robin is more the guitar slinger of the two, even he rarely uses the guitar as a solo instrument.  Instead, he prefers to treat it as a percussive canvas and a source of sparse riffs that serve to propel the ever-swaying reggae groove.
Fun and hope are at the core of the music they play year-in-year-out, like a part of the spiritual energy that once freed them from the back streets of Birmingham.
Read more about Robin's love for reggae and wise perspective on a hit-band's life in the book UNCOMMON SOUND.
