Dick Dale’s music takes much of its intensity from sparks of spontaneous inspiration and his general belief in giving all he’s got.  His highly individual, head-on approach is in keeping with his view of music as attitude
Many features of Dale’s music and career have had rippling effects on the evolution of rock music, influencing many of the burgeoning acts that came into contact with Dale in the early 1960s, from all the surf-music bands to The Beach Boys to Jimi Hendrix.  Although he sang on a fair share of his albums, Dale’s impact is based almost exclusively on his instrumental output.   All these factors make Dick Dale a truly unique artist in the history of rock music.
